back from dallas. already.
despite being a short trip, ncaa was a good trip. really good. one of my favorites. and it was free. go bears.
thursday. 630 am call time. the flight was good...took a 757 AA flight down...ended up sitting next to phil, by the window. i slept most of the way anyway.
go there, ended up in a double with nols, then went out with him, shat, will, chappy, zack, and a few others. hit up sonny bryans at west end for some kick-ass bbq. finally know what fried okra is! ate til i was sick. ziegen boc is some good texas beer. highly recommended.
headed back on DART, took a short nap. watched a lot of basketball, then opened the connecting doors to the oskis' room, where ppl were playing kings cup. diane milano is HILARIOUS when she's drunk. "do you like blowjobs??" haha, i love our authority figures.
got all the necesary stuff done, then passed out. good day. :)
friday. woke up before 11, then nols and i went back to west end. had steak (mmmmm....) at a place across from sonny bryans. it was some good steak. *drools* then we walked to the jfk memorial, a giant "open tomb" where he was shot. it was weird, being in such a historically horrible place. then we went to the 6th floor museum, which described what happened and some dallas history. it was really sobering, walking around and reading the boards. i'm glad we went...the most moving quote was about jackie kennedy and her wedding ring. she pulled back the sheet and tried to put her wedding ring on jfk's finger, and couldn't get it on.
then we walked around a little longer before heading back to the hotel. got ready for the game, then headed over. AA center was nice...too bad we didn't really get to enjoy it. we played, we lost. i spent most of the time freaking out and eating popcorn. got a pin and stole a ncaa towel (new, not used...ew). the lost really really sucked, it was so close the whole game. benson had a good night. i know we were disappointed, but i'm sure the team felt worse. anyway, the loss meant giving back some per diem and leaving ASAP. we had 10 minutes to pack our stuff. what SUCKED was that we got to the airport, and then had to wait. over an hour. for the team to arrive. they probably got dinner or something. while we were starving. boo. luckily, waiting at the airport wasn't bad, even though nothing was open. talked to oskis, mic men, dance team...ppl i haven't really talked to that much. it was chill. brad stole my shoe and threw it out. :P diane had to collect our money. i ate way too much sugar.
took a southwest flight back. there was a lot of room, and we got sandwiches and stuff. the team was in the front, and we were in the back, but it was really cool that we got to mingle with them. seeing benson and midgley wearing straw hats = lol. it was a good flight with the team, beats flying with football by a long shot. got in, went home...
i can't believe its over. i can't believe it was last trip with the band as a band member (here's hoping for FAing). i'm still in denial, of course. we got back early saturday. so that means a whole weekend here. of course, i wasted today. but then, jet lag is poopy. i'm so sad...i feel so old. and now i'm back here. reality check.
i loved dallas. southern hospitality is awesome. the service was amazing, makes berkeley dining look shoddy. DART is some great public transit, its the way a city is supposed to be offering pub trans. plus, it was dirt cheap. funny how pub trans etiquette differs there. people don't sit next to other ppl, they'd rather stand. oh, and i was probably on tv there friday night. cuz i got interviewed. it was pretty cool.
i wish i could have gone to PA. but then, i had a great time in dallas, and i couldn't afford that much time off anyway.
here's hoping for women's sweet sixteen!!!! and spring break. :)
